2009 Annual Holiday Cuisine Showcase

Holiday Cuisine ShowcaseIf you missed out on the 4th Annual Holiday Cuisine Showcase you missed great food, great company and great wine! Held at Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc on Thursday, December 3, this restaurant and food service competition is open to FACVB members who wish to showcase one or more signature dishes in the Appetizer, Entree, and Dessert categories.

Awards are given based on Best Presentation, Best Taste, and a People's Choice Award based on the votes of FACVB Holiday Party guests. The Cuisine Showcase is held in conjunction with the FACVB's Annual Holiday Party. Guests include FACVB members and board members, Genesee County Commissioners, city and township officials, vendors, prospects, and more. 

The Best Presentation and Best Taste Awards were decided by 9 judges: Al Blinke, President/CEO of WNEM TV5; Pam Brown, from Americinn Motel & Suites; Renee Gatica, FACVB Board Member and GM of Flint's Red Roof Inn; Cathy Jaruzel, from Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium; Ron Krueger, from The Flint Journal; Pat O'Boyle, from NCG Trillium Cinemas; Rose Seaman, from Holiday Inn Express in Flint & Baymont Inn; Lieutenant Terry Speedy, from The Flint Police Department; and Jill von Herrmann Baksi, Associate Editor of the Flint & Thumb Area TravelHost Magazine. Each judge was presented with a beautiful gift basket from Montrose Orchards, to thank them for taking the time out of their busy day to judge the event.

This year's sponsors include some of Genesee County's best: Blackstone's, Coffee Beanery, Debbie's Kitchen-Montrose Orchards, Fandangles, 501 Bar & Grill, Epoch Catering, The Lunch Studio, Pesto's, Redwood Lodge and Soyla's Mexican Cuisine.   • Taco Salad: Chef Andres Temich: El Cozumel Mexican Grill. WINNER OF THE PEOPLE'S CHOIDE AWARD FOR BEST ENTREE.
  • Ragout of Roasted Game Hen Stuffed with Baby Turnips: Chef Greg Bailey: Genesys Conference & Banquet Center. WINNER OF BEST PRESENTATION OF AN ENTREE.
  • Chicken Ghallaba: Taboon Middle Eastern Cuisine.
